Behind the Name

"You can dance in the storm. Don't wait for the rain to be over before, because it might take too long." -Israelmore Ayivor

When I started this blog a year ago, one of the most difficult parts was trying to decide on a name. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to a lot of things, and I wanted the name to be just right because it reflects my vision for what I wanted my blog to be. As you can tell, Walk In the Rain With Me was the name I finally decided upon, and it amazes me just how much it has mirrored my own life since then.

Not long after creating my blog, I wrote the first version of this page to explain the meaning behind my blog's name. This was part of it, and the main driving force behind the name:

"Like the physical rainy days, when life gets stormy, people tend to try to stay inside. They cover up and huddle together, trying not to get affected by, well, life. We stop everything when the storms come. Really, instead of waiting for the storm to pass, huddled away in fear, maybe we should take a step outside our door and learn how to walk in the rain together..."

Not long after writing that, I began the journey that would lead to being diagnosed with two chronic illnesses. This blog became one of my coping mechanisms- my window to the outside world when I'm too sick to go anywhere. It's a glimpse into the world of someone whose life became very stormy.

And it was through those storms that God showed me I have an amazing group of family and friends, because I have seen first hand just how many people are willing to Walk In the Rain With Me...
