Better Things Ahead

This is Day 23 of a 31 Day writing challenge. To read more about my 31 Days series and to catch up on any posts you've missed, be sure to check out my post 31 Days of INSPIRE!

Today, as I was pondering what to write about, a question came to mind...

What could I write about that anyone can relate to? What can I say that everyone- from every walk of life- can understand???

It didn't take long for me to come up with an answer.

We all have things we're leaving behind.

Some of us are being asked to leave behind good things. Maybe we're reluctant to let go of a well-paying job or move across the country. It can be hard to let go of circumstances that seem successful.

But that's when we have to trust God's plan.

On the other hand, some of us are walking away from a past we aren't proud of. We've messed up and we've made mistakes. We're too broken. We keep holding onto these sins because we don't feel like we deserve a second chance.

But that's why God extended grace.
So whichever group of people you are in, let me be the one to tell you that there are better things ahead. God's plans are greater than yours, and His love is bigger than any mistake you could make.

No matter who you are or where you're coming from...

You are loved.

Today is a new day.

...

My question today is what words of encouragement would you give to someone who is struggling to let go? Be sure to leave your response in the comment section below or over on my Facebook page!

  2. Love the CS Lewis quote. A year ago I took a new job and moved. It was hard to move on but I felt God calling me to this place. I think sometimes in order for us to grow we need to move on and accept change. I preached on Jacob wrestling with God a year ago. We too wrestle with God like Jacob. In that text God blesses Jacob just like God blesses each of us. One of my fave things about this text is that Jacob won't leave until he receives the blessing. I felt that way too.

  3. I love that you were looking for something that everyone can relate to! I definitely can relate! I left behind my home to move across the country with my husband and the Marine Corps, so I totally fall into this category! I am still struggling to find the plan here.

    1. I am glad you can relate. And thank you for sharing a little bit of your story! A friend of mine just moved away as her new husband is in the Navy, so I've experienced that a little more personally, myself.

  4. I feel so unqualified to give words of encouragement here. My head knows that letting go is a natural part of life, but my heart struggles with acceptance! I don't like change. God has to keep working with me, molding me to His perfect plan.

    1. If no one who struggled with the concept of letting go could offer words of encouragement, there would be no words of encouragement... I think we all wrestle with this idea at least once in our lives, some of us more than others. But I think that's part of the beauty in all of this- we can encourage others without being perfect. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, today, and for being honest!

  5. God's plan is definitely better than any plan I can conjure up. Thanks for the reminder.

  6. My advice would be to free yourself up for what God has next. Like you said, whether you are clinging to unforgiveness or something negative, or if you are not willing to part with something that's good. If God asks you to let go then you need to be obedient either way or you could be missing out on something really great.
